Transport Authority grants storage amnesty
75 per cent waiver precedes Nov auction
The Transport Authority is granting a 75 per cent waiver on storage fees for impounded vehicles following on a directive from Transport Minister Dr Omar Davies, recently.
The 75 per cent waiver of storage fees comes just weeks before the Transport Authority hosts an auction of seized vehicles in November. In accordance with section 13(3) of the Transport Authority Act, the Authority may auction vehicles impounded and remaining in its pounds in excess of six months.
Minister Davies said, "I have instructed the chairman of the Transport Authority to make a last effort before the auction to give those persons with vehicles impounded prior to May 15, 2013, an opportunity to retrieve their vehicles. In this regard, I have asked that a 75 per cent waiver be granted on all storage fees for these vehicles, on presentation of the correct applicable documents. This is a one-off opportunity and must be acted upon prior to September 30, 2013."
Persons wishing to know the status of their impounded vehicles may contact the Transport Authority's Operations Department at 926-8912 or call toll free at 1-888-991-5687.
