Double home game proposal lacks logic

THE EDITOR, Sir:
Orville Higgins put forward some excellent proposals ('Win-win for all, Gleaner, August 30, 2013) for the Red Stripe Premier League, except the play-off format. Giving the top four teams double home games lacks sporting logic and seems to overly dismiss the bottom four teams.
Home advantage can be significant, and it seems simply unfair to take that away in an arbitrary way. Let a team opt to give it away, if it wishes. But treat the potential away fans fairly by giving them a pass on travelling twice and allowing them to muster what home support they can.
