A lesson from Guyana?

Last week, Guyana's civil aviation authority disclosed that a crash by a Caribbean Airlines jet at the country's Cheddi Jagan Airport in 2011 was the result of a pilot error.

The formal report will soon be published, but according to the authorities, how the pilot landed did not provide him with sufficient time to stop the plane on the 7,400-foot runway.

That crash happened on June 30, 2011, two years and a bit less than three months ago.

Nearly a year and half earlier, on December 22, 2009, an American Airlines plane landed at the Norman Manley Airport in Kingston but ran off the runway. It has been nearly four years since that accident, but despite several deadlines and many promises, no report, of any kind, has been released.

Maybe there is a thing, or two, the Guyanese aviation authority can teach us about efficiency.
