Happy Hanukkah!

WESTERN BUREAU:Jewish-born St Ann hotelier Scott Robbins cooks for Thanksgiving every year, and this has become the norm for the culinary maestro, his wife Tricia, and his host of friends.
This year, he selected the Sunday after Thanksgiving to celebrate this very special occasion, which coincided with the Jewish traditional Hanukkah, opening up his Mammee Bay home simply for the camaraderie that comes with this family-oriented event.
Hanukkah relates to the period when the temple in Jerusalem was taken back by the Maccabees, who, in the process of putting back lights, realised they only had enough oil for one day, yet it would take them all of eight days to get more oil.
However, the lamps burned for eight days until more oil was acquired. This became known as the miracle of lights and is celebrated every year by Jews by lighting a menorah (special candle holder) for eight nights.
The Robbinses usually light their candles in private. However, last Sunday, they shared this beautiful tradition with all in attendance.
With the help of Tai Flora, the Robbinses transformed their home using cabanas and tents draped with orange and brown fabric, accompanied by sofas in the lounge area, making way for a day of true relaxation.
Outlook shared in the occasion, and today, we showcase some photos from the very intimate event.
