Whether immediate, extended or adopted, many gather in their homes with family and close friends, and in true tradition, celebrate Christmas with laughter, love, fun and food. For some, Boxing Day is the time when they bask in leftovers from the previous night.

However, for some it's a great time to dine out with family and friends. Food has done some of the leg work and here are some restaurants that will be opened today to serve you a holiday feast.

Majestic Sushi and Grill will be giving an oriental feel to the season. For starters, they will have an option soup or salad, Japanese fried chicken, which is fried with a curry flavour, served with a miso soup and salmon skin salad. This will be followed by the main event, which comes with a choice of teriyaki salmon with creamy rock shrimp, or rib and steak with vegetables and zucchini. Sushi lovers are in for a treat with the Japanese sushi 10-piece salad, comprising all the sushi you can eat, which ranges from octopus, squid to tuna, even shrimp. And to sweeten the deal, they added a chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream or a mouth-watering melted pudding. This festive feast cost $3,500 plus GCT.

Health-conscious diners are not to be left out either. Spring Garden Café will also be providing the complete package for their customers this Boxing Day. From the savoury offerings of smoked chicken, gungo peas in coconut cream soup to garden or breadfruit salad, a choice of smoked chicken ham, garlic shrimp in wine sauce or escoveitched fillet, served with gungo peas and rice and honey glazed sweet potato, to desserts ranging from bread pudding in rum sauce, those who enter are surely in for a jolly jamboree. The package price is $2,100 plus GCT as well as service charge.

Newcomers 689 by Brian Lumley will be offering delightful dishes for the season as well. Their three-course meal takes diners on a scrumptious journey with a choice of soup or salad for appetisers. For those meat lovers, drunken sorrel braised chicken or rabbit with a 698 crouquette and sautéed vegetables will serve as the main course. While for the cherry on top - bursts of 689 fruitcake with whipped cream and a literal cherry on top, all of which will entice your taste buds. The price is: $3,000 plus tax.

So, there is no need to stay in this Boxing Day. Make a whole new tradition. Grab the gang of loved ones and experience for yourself what these joyful restaurants have in store for you.
