Easing the squeeze

Published:Wednesday | February 19, 2014 | 12:00 AM

We note Dr Wesley Hughes' response to the call for the finance ministry's review of the decision of the PetroCaribe Development Fund's planned move to larger, more costly premises.

Many people will empathise with Dr Hughes and his staff for seeking to escape the tight squeeze of an average 105 square feet of space per person. So they won't begrudge the average 226 square feet each will have when the staff complement jumps, by 40 per cent, to 21.

A tripling of the rent - for their comfort, and, oh, productivity - is a small price to pay.
