WESTERN BUREAU:

Executive Chef at the Gloucestershire Hotel, Montego Bay, Marsden Palmer, laid out the red carpet 'pasta style', hosting over 120 guests at the Flow MoBay City Run, 'Pasta, Karaoke and Wine' party on the Second City's popular Hip Strip.

Titillating the eyes with some of the best food presentations this side of town, the chef stirred the taste buds with a combination of 10K, 5K, Corporate Run, Rasta Pasta, spaghetti and meat sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, fettucini alfredo with chicken, penne pasta with spicy tomato sauce, and linguini with black olives and pesto sauce.

Coupled with Select Brands' Rex white Moscato, Rex Pinot Noir, the incredibly talented Karen Smith and the Silver Bird Steel Band, as early as 7 p.m., it became obvious that this pre-race promotional party was going to set the pace for all others. The actual event is set for Sunday, May 18, at the Old Hospital Park, Montego Bay.

Hosted at the poolside of the resort, race participants committed to running for four tertiary institutions, the University of the West Indies, Mona - Western Jamaica Campus, UTech Western Jamaica, Montego Bay Community College, and Sam Sharpe Teachers' College, and partied until midnight.

An announcement by Glendon Lowe, the Fairview branch manager of Courts Jamaica, the largest furniture and appliance retailer, to fund the event to the tune of $400,000, perfected the sauces poured by the Gloucestershire team.

"The Montego Bay run combines the importance of exercise to a healthy country and the importance of education in ensuring a sustainable country. Education is a critical component of the Courts Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, and the company is dedicated to empowering and giving hope to young Jamaicans through education," Lowe told the gathering.

Other sponsors in attendance included Wisynco, The Gleaner, Design HQ, and Biokinergo.
