Cozy Seafood Cabin

'Tis the lenten season, which means the catch of the day is reigning supreme as the main meat of choice. When we think of fish, popular places such as Hellshire Beach and Port Royal come to mind. Well, there is now a new addition to the dining family of seafood called The Cabin Seafood Grill and Restaurant.
Located at Newport Commercial Centre, Newport Boulevard (Newport West) in Kingston, The Cabin Seafood Grill and Restaurant opened its doors close to the shores on March 21.
The concept is that of Chrishina and her mother, Evette Richards, who are caterers. "We have been in the catering industry for 18 years, and after doing some research, we decided to venture to Newport in order to provide meals for those working in and around the wharf area that are in need of freshly prepared and tasty meals. Also, we were inspired by our natural surroundings, and in honouring this - being close to the wharf and the sea - we settled on making seafood our palatable focus," Richards said.
Opened for breakfast and lunch, the early-morning offerings include a traditional Jamaican menu of ackee and saltfish, among many others. The daily lunch menu includes the catch of the day, from which their customers can order the fare anyway they like. So, for example, if the catch of the day is shrimp, customers can order it curried, garlic, fried or sweet and sour. You name it, the duo will create it, since all their dishes are done to order.
Casual settings aside, they have kicked things into high gear by having a private, more formal section, supplying scrumptious seafood, with an added bonus of indulging in the beautiful and soothing ambience and experiencing fine dining at its best. "In doing this, we seek to not only establish a reputable restaurant known for delectable dishes, but which stands out for its quality customer service as well," young Richards explained.
"A lot of people are eating healthier these days, which was our main reason for diving into seafood, and seeing that we are not far from the waterfront, we could provide an outlet for the fishermen in the local area. In addition, we anticipate the expansion of the ports, feeding those coming in on the ship. Since people drive all the way to Portmore and Port Royal for fish, why not come to Marcus Garvey Drive? We hope to become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to seafood," the older Richards pointed out.
While they specialise in seafood, they also prepare Jamaican dishes such as curried goat, chicken and pork. They endeavour to deliver lunch in the Corporate Area of Kingston. They are open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., and offer affordable prices for all meals. With a variety of dishes to choose from, make The Cabin Seafood Grill and Restaurant a choice for mouth-watering dishes today.
