Water War

WESTERN BUREAU:Four huge pools, a foam pit, an obstacle course complemented by waterworks depicting the effects of the 1988 Hurricane Gilbert, and skimpily dressed women were the highlights of Easter Monday Watawar at Cornwall Beach in Montego Bay.
Sponsored by Charley's J.B. Overproof White Rum, the event, which claims number-one spot as MoBay's biggest water party, had super-soaking sisters armed with their water-loaded guns.
This was the war of wars, and the better shooter who could spew the quench-thirsting commodity took dominance at the annual event.
The warning from the organisers was precise - don't overdress or wear your best clothes. Getting wet is compulsory.
While the wata-warring factions had a party that took them to the peak, the excitement reached fever pitch when the name-brand group of DJs, led by the indomitable Crazy Neil, the quick-thinking Kentucky party animal Jigga, the coolest Vodka - Absolut - Skinny One Two Three and Mackie and Gemini drew for one hit after the other.
So, did Watawar satiate the appetite? Yes, particularly for those whose thirst needed quenching!
