The date has been finally set and all things are into high gear for the annual foodie event spectacular, Jamaica Epicurean Escape. The organisers officially launched the event two Wednesdays ago at the Countryside Club, and it was nothing short of delectable in its delivery.
The three-day food affair, since its inception, has never ceased to please the many eager palates that have graced its venue. This year, they plan to take it to new-found heights in making it even bigger and better.
Fun in the sun, designed with the entire family and friends in mind, will sport an array of scrumptious dishes, prepared by aspiring as well as top-notch chefs. Desired libations are, of course, not to be left out, and to sweeten the deal, a culturally diverse entertainment package will await those willing to participate.
Some who were on show at the launch were GCG Events, who in a simply outstanding way satisfied those having a sweet tooth with their offerings of bite- sized bread pudding and cheesecake. Those in attendance were taken on a trip back to Africa by none other than Café Africa, savouring the culinary experiencing of West African-smoked fish, East African-style callaloo with peanut and coconut, beef-filled cookies with sweet pepper and coconut jelly, and Mozambique-style grilled chicken in pepper and lime. While crowd favourite Jacquie Tyson's From Thought to Finish spiced things up with variety, providing salt fish sweet potato balls, sweet mango-glazed pigtail, oxtail mini patties and shrimp pasta.

Sponsors such as Jamaica Tourist Board, Courts, Gas Pro, Sagicor and The Gleaner Company were more than delighted to hop on board for yet another staging of such a wonderful event. Janet Sylvester of Courts explained that they will be supplying all the chefs who will be performing live food demonstrations with the necessary cooking aids.
"This is our second year with Jamaica Epicurean Estate, and when they came to us, we just could not refuse, because it was an easy fit: food and appliances," noted Sylvester. Kitchen Aid appliances and items from the Island Home Collection will represent the grandeur of Courts Jamaica.
So, all roads lead to Grizzly's Plantation Cove at Richmond Estate this Labour day weekend, Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25 for the highly anticipated international wine, food and music festival, Jamaica Epicurean Escape.
