Missing witnesses stall murder case

WESTERN BUREAU:
The case of four men, who are charged in connection with the 2012 shooting death of a St James resident, failed to proceed on Monday due to the absence of the prosecution witnesses from court.
The accused men, Sheldon Russell of Salt Spring in St James, brothers Clyde and Nesta Morlese of Patty Hill in Hanover, and Damaine Samuels, are charged with the murder of Rodell Hall of Salt Spring in St James. Their case will be mentioned before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on July 31.
It is alleged that on February 4, 2012, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Hall was shot dead by gunmen after the taxi in which he was a passenger was ambushed along the Salt Spring main road.
The gunmen reportedly ordered the passengers out of the car, but unlike the other passengers, Hall attempted to escape and was chased and shot. He was later pronounced dead at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
On Monday, the court was told that the prosecution witnesses in the case against the four men could not be located. The matter was subsequently deferred to July 31 to allow the police to locate the witnesses.
