A night promising fun, food and frolic surely did not disappoint at the American Women's Group of Jamaica's annual fundraiser at the American International School of Kingston last Saturday night. Their culinary showcase in particular was so diversely delectable, that it had many returning for seconds and thirds.

The evening was welcomed by tasty oysters at the oyster bar. Hors d'ouevres in the form of seasoned shrimp, smoked marlin with cream cheese and jerk sausage with mango chutney sashayed throughout the venue, stimulating foodlovers' appetites. Sweet aromas tickled the air as a prelude to the greater gastronomic delight that was in store for patrons.

CPJ pulled out all the stops, providing authentically Jamaican jerk pork, curried goat, charcoal pan chicken, and roast breadfruit, along with succulent slices of ham, penne pasta and fluffy jasmine rice, while a choice of traditional side salads of lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes with toppings, as well as Irish and sweet potato salad topped off the tasty main course list of offerings.

Those in attendance revisited the line to rekindle their desire with these dishes.

The cherry on top was for those with a sweet tooth - carrot cake triangles covered in heavenly frosting.

With the 'hunger games' now complete, guests settled down to a night of Escapini, fine wines and their drink of choice. If some were seeking a detox, or just craved something warm, they could visit the Salada tent for Blue Mountain coffee and other flavoured teas.

The American Women's Group of Jamaica definitely delivered, putting back the food in fun, food and frolic.
