Moneague College tops schools Epicurean contest

Moneague College emerged winners in the inaugural schools competition in the Jamaica Epicurean Food and Wine Festival held last weekend at the Grizzlys Cove, Richmond Estate, St Ann.
The team of Kimone Benjamin, Jordash Garricks, and Denan McKenzie, accompanied by lecturer Muffet Forsythe-Llewellyn, won with their dish Breadfruit Tun-up, Reggae Chicken with Pineapple Rum Sauce, ahead of five other institutions.
Second went to Steer Town Academy with their dish of stuffed chicken breast with callaloo, served with breadfruit salad, sauteed string beans with sweet pepper sizzle sauce, and yam punch.
Aabuthnott Gallimore High finished third. Their dish was Breadfruit Surprise with string bean bundle, Grace chicken with pineapple sauce.
In announcing the winners, the judges said the competition was keenly contested and it was difficult to arrive at a winner.
The winners received Kitchen Aid equipment for their home economics department.
The other institutions that took part were Marcus Garvey Technical, Ferncourt High, and Western Hospitality Institute.
