Case file in machete-slapping trial ready
WESTERN BUREAU:The case against a St James man who reportedly slapped another man with a machete early this year was put off when he was brought before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Lloyd Bryan, who is of a Montego Bay address, is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. His case was deferred to Thursday, June 12, after the court experienced some technical difficulties, which necessitated several cases being set for later dates.
Despite the case being put off for the following day, however, the prosecution indicated that the case file in Bryan's matter was ready for trial.
The allegations are that on March 4, 2014, the complainant was walking along the Gutters main road in Montego Bay when he saw Bryan standing at the front of a shop. On seeing the complainant, Bryan reportedly threw a bottle at him and said "You nah lef' ya so?"
It is further alleged that Bryan then went for a machete and chased the complainant, following which he used the machete to hit the other man on the side. Bryan was subsequently arrested following a report to the police.
