Last Monday evening, colleagues and well-wishers gathered in the Port Antonio Suite of The Jamaica Pegasus hotel to bid adieu to three great members of the diplomatic corps. Having completed their tenure : Spanish Ambassador Celsa Nuño, German Ambassador Josef Beck, and Chargé d' affaires of Costa Rica Tanishia Ellis Hayles.

A mingling frenzy ensued among those gathered as they proceeded to 'catch up' and say their farewells to the guests of honour.

Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Dominican Republic Ambassador Dr José Tomás Ares Germán started off the formal proceedings by thanking the guests for coming to say "I will see you soon" to the three diplomats.

'Parting is such sweet sorrow' were the words of Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs Arnaldo Brown, who confessed that this was the first time he had ever seen three diplomats leave at the same time. "These countries have been very close friends with Jamaica, almost family. So while we are sad to see them go, we wish them all the best." he said.

The two ambassadors and one chargé d'
affaires took to the stage, sharing their gratitude for the friendship
between their respective countries and Jamaica. Nuño and Beck basked in
the celebration while Hayles teared up towards the end of her
speech.

Photo opportunity among diplomats, family
members, friends and supporters aside, sounds of The World's
Greatest
echoed in the background as they resorted to
savouring the delights of vegetable spring rolls, chicken samosas,
meatballs, and quiche, "until they could meet
again".
