Doctors at Belize’s national hospital, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital have called off their industrial action.

The decision follows a series of meetings involving the institution’s management, the union representing the doctors and the government.

Doctors and other medical staff went on strike yesterday after the hospital’s board of directors fired the Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Khalid Ghazi on Tuesday evening.

The strike brought all but emergency services to a halt.
