Pakistan through to 20/20 semifinal

Pakistan will face West Indies or Sri Lanka in the final of the 20/20 World Cup after upsetting South Africa by seven runs in the first semi-final at Trent Bridge in England earlier this afternoon.



Chasing a victory target of 150, the previously unbeaten South Africa ended on 142 for five against the bowling of Shahid Afridi two for 16.



Jacques Kallis top scored for South Africa with 64 from 54 balls.



Earlier, Afridi scored 51 to lead Pakistan to 149 for four off their allotted 20 overs.



Meanwhile, in the first match at Trent Bridge, New Zealand skipper Aimee Watkins scored an unbeaten 89 to lead her team to a 52-run victory over India in the semi-finals of the Women’s 20/20 World Cup.



Watkins hit her runs off 58 balls to lead New Zealand to 145 for five and India never threatened to chase it, finishing on 93 for nine.



England will face Australia in the other semi-final at the Oval tomorrow.
