The chief executive of Air France said his company would compensate the families of the 228 victims of the June 1 crash of flight 447 over the Atlantic.
Pierre-Henri Gourgeon said the company is currently concentrating on the first advance that will be paid for each victim.
He said the company’s insurance lawyers in various countries are talking to the victims\' families to organize the advance payment valuing about 17 thousand 500 euros.
Reuters reports that Air France presented the payments as a compassionate gesture from and not an admission of liability.
