A stunning spell of three goals in eight minutes gave Brazil a 3-0 victory over Italy in the Confederations Cup yesterday in South Africa.
As a result of the victory, Brazil have qualified for the semi-final, while Italy failed to advance.
Luis Fabiano put Brazil in front in the 37th minute and added another in the 43rd minute.
Andrea Dossena’s own-goal just before the break consigned Italy to defeat and saw the USA going through instead.
With Egypt losing 3-0 to the USA, a 3-1 defeat for World Cup winners Italy would have been enough to put them through, but despite a second half rally they never looked like beating Brazil keeper Julio Cesar.
Brazil will now play hosts South Africa in the semi-final.
