Trinidadian Prime Minister Patrick Manning is warning that too many illegal immigrants will come into his country if it does not seek to enter into an economic and political arrangement with eastern Caribbean states.
Mr Manning made the comments while defending the proposed political union between Trinidad and Tobago and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
He said Port of Spain could help with the economic revival of the OECS countries while securing markets for Trinidadian goods and products.
According to Mr Manning, otherwise there would be a mass migration to Trinidad, which has one of the richer economies in the region.
Prime Minister Manning was speaking at his party\'s annual convention yesterday.
