Guyana expects nationals to return home

Guyana expects its citizens to return home shortly from Barbados on account of immigration regulations.

Guyana’s cabinet secretary, Dr Roger Luncheon, says Barbados’ illegal immigrant policy has forced his country to make avenues for Guyanese nationals to re-integrate into the country.

He says the Guyana Foreign Affairs Ministry is seeking to determine how many Guyanese are or may be returning; those who have returned and what their needs are.

He says operations to get the required documents of nationals, and arranging the placement of their children in schools are being worked on.

Dr. Luncheon says Guyana is also looking into claims that its nationals are being unfairly targeted under Barbados’ policy.
