13-year-old charged with murder in St Lucia

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with murder in St Lucia.



The police said the teenager was one of two persons arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a 20-year-old woman at a dance on Saturday.



National Security Minister Guy Mayers said parents are to be blamed for the high incidence of criminal activity in the country.



He wants to know why a 13-year-old was at a bar at 2 a.m.



According to Mr Mayers the quality of parenting and direction given to young people at home has a direct correlation to the incidents of crime in the country.



He wants a holistic approach to be taken in crime fighting.



Six people were murdered during a six-day period last week in the country.
