Holding expects WI to struggle without Fidel

Former Jamaica and West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding believes the Caribbean side will struggle without Fidel Edwards in the One-Day Internationals against India.

The pace bowler was not named for the first two One-Day Internationals at Sabina Park in Jamaica because of a lower back injury.

The opening One-Day is slated for tomorrow and the second will take place on Sunday. The other games are set for St Lucia on July 3 and 5.

Holding said Edwards is crucial to the West Indies attack because he is quick and can intimidate the batsmen with his bouncers.

He said the Indian batsmen are very uncomfortable to the short-pitched strategy, but they will be more comfortable now that Edwards is out of the team.

Holding is expecting Lendl Simmons and Darren Sammy to play in the first two matches citing that they are promising young cricketers and should be given more opportunities.
