ICC says three co-hosts to stage 2011 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) says the 2011 World Cup matches taken away from Pakistan due to security concerns will be staged by the three other co-hosts.
The decision came on today’s second day of the ICC board meeting in London.
The ICC further says since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be paid the $10.5 million it would have received for staging the 14 limited-overs matches, the ICC also expects its officials to help organise the tournament in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan were stripped of their share of the tournament in the wake of an attack on the Sri Lankan team by gunmen in Lahore in April.
On the first day of the board meeting, the ICC paved the way for a day-nighter trial next year and approved the use of video referrals in the five-day format.
