National Athletics trials begin tomorrow
Chairman of the Organising Committee for the National Senior Athletics Trials, Ludlow Watt says all is in place for tomorrow’s start of the three-day championship.
Watt says the Organising Committee is expecting a very competitive Championship.
The trials, which will be used to select Jamaica’s team to the World Championships in Berlin, Germany from August 15 to 23, will take place at the National Stadium.
Watt says the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) has received entries from all the athletes from the Beijing Olympics, except Nesta Carter, who is injured.
Carter was part of the country’s recording breaking 4 x 100 metre relay team that won gold at last summer’s Beijing Olympics.
Tomorrow’s opening day features the heats of the 100 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres and 400 hurdles.
The Championship is scheduled to begin each afternoon at 4 p.m.
