National Trials starts today

The 2009 staging of the three-day Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships will begin at the National Stadium at 5:15 p.m.
Beijing Olympic triple gold medallist Usain Bolt will be the star attraction at the meet, which will be used to select the national team for the World Championships in Berlin, Germany from August 15 to 23.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the meet, Ludlow Watt said all is in place for a successful championship.
Watt further said the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association has received entries from all the athletes from the Beijing Olympics, except Nesta Carter, who is injured.
Today’s opening day features the heats of the 100 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres and 400 hurdles.
