Dominica has announced new measures to help prevent a potential outbreak of the Influenza A (H1N1) virus, as the country prepares to host international cricket matches next month.

The Health Ministry says a special facility at the main Princess Margaret Hospital has been established to admit persons who have contracted the virus.

The ministry had previously advised persons who display symptoms of the virus to remain at home where treatment would be administered to them.

Chief Medical Officer David Johnson says any person who becomes ill will now be required to go the hospital.
