Haiti needs tougher drug laws

Outgoing United States Ambassador to Haiti, Janet Sanderson, said Haiti need to enact tougher laws to deal with the growing illegal drugs trade in the country.

Ms. Sanderson said Haiti should not simply depend on the US to deal with such a major national issue.

According to her, better laws are needed to help the Haitians defeat the drug dealers and drug traffickers.

Sanderson, who is ending a three-and-a-half year tour of duty in the country, said she regrets not being able to put a major dent in addressing Haiti’s burgeoning drug trade through increased aid.
