Reggae Boyz depart for Gold Cup
13 members of Jamaica’s 20-man senior football squad are scheduled to depart tomorrow afternoon for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.
Among the players departing tomorrow are captain Ricardo Gardner and defender Ian Goodison, who both did not travel with the team to the Cayman Islands last week for a one-week camp.
Gardner remained in Jamaica to recover from an injury and Goodison did not travel to the Cayman Islands because of a passport issue, which prevented him from travelling.
Other players departing tomorrow are United Kingdom-based Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Demar Phillips, who plays in Norway and first string goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts of US Major League team Los Angeles Galaxy.
The other seven players will join the team in the USA.
Jamaica will begin the Gold Cup on July 3 against Canada in the first game of the tournament’s opening doubleheader.
