Vaughan quits cricket

Former England captain Michael Vaughan confirmed his retirement from all forms of cricket today.

He made the announcement at a Press Conference in Edgbaston, England.

Vaughan departs the international scene as England’s most successful Test captain of all time with 26 wins from his 51 matches in charge.

His achievements also include leading England to their first Ashes victory against Australia for 18 years in 2005 and a first Test series win in South Africa for 40 years, also in 2005.

Vaughan’s retirement came just a week after he was left out of a 16-man training squad for this year\'s Ashes, having struggled to find form for Yorkshire in the county championship.

Vaughan has not played international cricket since relinquishing the captaincy in 2008.
