Roger Federer through to semifinals
Roger Federer of Switzerland remains on course for a sixth Wimbledon championship title by dismissing Ivo Karlovic of Croatia earlier today to reach the semi-final.
The five-time champion broke as early as game five with two fabulous returns and went on to win 6-3, 7-5, 7-6.
Federer, seeded Number 2, will now face 24th seed Tommy Haas in the semis on Friday after the German beat fourth seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia 7-5, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
In another quarterfinal game, Andy Murray reached his first semifinal after overpowering Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain 7-5, 6-3, 6-2.
Murray won the last five games of the match to wrap up the win in one hour, 41 minutes. He became the first Briton since Tim Henman in 2002 to reach the Wimbledon semifinal.
Murray will play Andy Roddick in the semi-final. Roddick advanced after beating Lleyton Hewitt of Australia 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.
