Health officials in Trinidad and Tobago have given the green light for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships to go ahead at the end of the month.
Initially, there were fears the July 31 to August 1event would have been cancelled because of the influenza H1NI virus .
However, the okay was given following several meetings between the Ministry of Health and the National Amateur Athletics Association.
The influenza H1N1 virus fears have already caused the cancellation of three tournaments in T&T, the inaugural Caribbean Games, the Senior Caribbean Squash Championships and the Caribbean Football Union’s Youth Cup.
Health officials in T&T have reported 59 cases of the H1NI virus.
