The 30th regular meeting of the conference of CARCICOM Heads of Government has been attracting much attention because of trade issues involving Jamaica and Trinidad.

It’s also receiving attention because of an apparent new deportation policy in Barbados.

Yesterday, Jamaica’s Prime Minister Bruce Golding chaired the CARICOM Prime Ministerial sub-committee on external negotiations.

The Committee received recommendations on a number of trade issues affecting the region.

The talks allowed regional heads to prepare for CARICOM/Canada negotiations for a trade and development agreement including banana exports.

The negotiations will also cover the implementation of the CARIFORUM/European Commission Economic Partnership Agreement.
