Jamaica, Barbados to face off

Jamaica will face Barbados in their final Group ‘A’ preliminary game of the 2009 Caribbean Basketball Championship in Tortola, British Virgin Islands today.



The game is scheduled to start at 5:45 this afternoon Jamaica time.



The Jamaicans secured their first points on yesterday’s second day of the championship, following a 77-73 victory over the Bahamas.



Trinidad and Tobago, who defeated Jamaica on Tuesday, easily beat Barbados 90-63 yesterday to lead the standings with four points, one ahead of Jamaica and the Bahamas on three points.



T&T will face Bahamas this afternoon.



Over in Group ‘B’ Antigua will tackle Bermuda, while hosts British Virgin Islands will play Cuba.



The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semifinals to be played on July 3.



The Caribbean Championship qualifies three teams for the Centrobasket tournament.
