Jermaine Johnson, Damion Stewart could be fined
Reggae Boys midfielder Jermaine Johnson and defender Damion Stewart, who missed their flight from Jamaica to Miami on Monday, could face heavy fines by the coaching staff.
They were booked to travel with nine other players to the United States to compete in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament.
New head coach Theodore Whitmore says Johnson and Stewart will heavily fined for missing the flight.
The players had checked in but did not board the scheduled American Airlines flight that departed at 12:15 in the afternoon.
Whitmore pointed out that Stewart and Johnson, as well as Ricardo Fuller and Luton Shelton had already been fined on the team’s tour of Cayman Islands.
Jamaica will begin the Gold Cup tomorrow against Canada in the first game of the tournament opening doubleheader.
