Men’s semi-finals today at Wimbledon
The men’s semi-finals of the Wimbledon Tennis Championship in England will take place today, beginning 7 o’clock this morning Jamaica time.
The focus will be on Roger Federer of Switzerland who is looking for a sixth Wimbledon championship title.
Federer, seeded Number 2, will now face 24th seed Tommy Haas of Germany, while British Andy Murry and American Andy Roddick will face off in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile, Americans Venus and Serena Williams won in contrasting fashion yesterday to set up their fourth all-sister Wimbledon final and eighth meeting in a Grand Slam title match.
Two-time champion Serena saved a match point and overcame Russian Elena Dementieva 6-7, 7-5, 8-6 in 2 hours, 49 minutes.
And five-time winner Venus needed only 51 minutes to overwhelm top seed Dinara Safina, also of Russia, 6-1, 6-0 to reach her eighth Wimbledon final.
The sisters who hold 17 Grand Slam titles between them will face each other tomorrow, July 4, Independence Day in the United States.
