WI, Bangladesh Test still on

President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), Julian Hunte said late last night that the opening Test would go ahead as planned.

Hunte says a news release will be issued before midday today to outline further details.

The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) yesterday outlined 10 grievances they had with the WICB.

However, the WICB says it found unacceptable WIPA’s demand for payment of US$1.935 million out of the US$2 million tour guarantee it had received from the England and Wales Cricket Board for the recent tour of England.

The WICB also says it also rejected WIPA’s proposal for the payment of fees for the recent 20/20 World Cup in England.

For India’s recent tour of the Caribbean, the WICB said there was disagreement between the two sides about whether the series was part of the International Cricket Future Tours programme. However, the WICB says they are prepared to pay the players until the matter is resolved through arbitration.
