Jamaica moves to fourth in Golf championship

Jamaica have improved to fourth place in the standings after yesterday’s second day of the three-day Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship being played at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Montego Bay.



The Jamaicans who ended the first day in sixth place have now tallied 68 points after gaining 38 points yesterday.



Their improved position came after Jonathan Newnham’s ended the day in joint first place in the 14-to-15 age group.



Newnham and Benjamin Davis of The Bahamas both shot 71 or one under par yesterday to post the best individual score on the course.



Newnham shot five birdies, 10 pars, one bogey and two double bogeys.



Vittoria Marley of Jamaica retained her third place position after shooting 84 on both days. Monifa Sealy of Trinidad and Tobago and Patricia Garcia of Puerto shared the lead.



Meanwhile, defending champions Puerto Rico have extended their lead to 105, 15 points ahead of Trinidad and Tobago, who are second on 90.



The Dominican Republic are in third place on 82 points.
