Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya and interim President Roberto Micheletti criticised each other ahead of today’s meeting to negotiate power talks.
They are to meet in Costa Rica to deal with the recent political tensions, which saw President Zelaya being removed from office in a military coup.
The BBC says Mr Zelaya has called Mr Micheletti a criminal and has told reporters he expects the leaders of the coup to leave power by tomorrow.
Mr. Michelleti has responded by saying his intent is not to negotiate, but just to talk about the issues at today’s meeting.
However the mediator of the talks, Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, says he sees some willingness on both sides to seek a negotiated settlement through diplomacy.
