The Bermudan government has vowed to enact new legislation to give citizens more access to information on the activities of the government.

Premier Ewart Brown says a public access to information

bill is being finalized to be discussed in Bermuda’s House of Assembly, which he expects to be enacted by year end.

Premier Brown says the new law will be drawing lessons from similar legislation in the Caribbean and Europe.

The government has been coming under pressure from local media to establish access to information legislation.

They have also criticized the length of time being taken to establish the legislation.

But Premier Brown say his government is conducting due diligence to ensure that the most appropriate law is enacted.
