Highly fancied Jamaica finished a disappointing fourth at the three-day 54-hole Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship, which ended yesterday at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Rose Hall, St James.

The Jamaican tallied 100 points to retain the position they finished last year.

The Championship was won by defending champions Puerto Rico. The Puerto Ricans retained the Hank James Trophy with a tally of 158 points.

Trinidad and Tobago ended up second with 136 points, while the Dominican Republic were third with 122 points.

The 2010 Championship will take place in The Bahamas.

Meanwhile, Jamaica earned the right to host the 2010 Caribbean Classic Championship, which will take place on three courses – Cinnamon Hill, White Witch and Half Moon in Montego Bay.
