T&T Attorney General submits resignation

The Trinidad and Tobago Attorney General John Jeremie has submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

Mr. Jeremie’s move comes less than a week after the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago passed a vote of no confidence in him.

Mr. Jeremie was in his second term at the post.

Reports said during his tenure, Jeremie unlawfully tried to influence the Director of Public Prosecutions to bring charges against select persons on trial.

Prime Minister Manning has since criticised the local legal profession and said he will make a full statement on the issue.
