Pakistan fight back against Sri Lanka
A maiden century from debutant opener Fawad Alam has given Pakistan hope after day two of the second cricket Test match against hosts Sri Lanka at P. Sara Oval in Colombo today.
The 23-year-old opener made an unbeaten 102 as Pakistan reached 178 for one in their second innings at the close.
Pakistan, who were bowled out for 90 in the first innings, now lead by 28 runs after wiping off a 150-run first innings deficit.
Sri Lanka, resumed today at 164 for three and appeared destined for a big lead. However, they were dismissed for 240 as Umur Gul took four for 43, including the wicket of captain Kumar Sangakkara for 87, and Saeed Ajmal supported with four for 87.
The dismissal of Sangakkara at 188 for five sparked a batting collapse as the home side lost their remaining five wickets for 52 runs.
Scores in the game are, Pakistan 90 and 178 for one, Sri Lanka 240.
