West Indies set 227 runs to win first Test
West Indies, set 277 runs to win, were 71 for three at Sports Time on today’s fifth and final day of the opening Test against Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent.
The host has lost both openers before the lunch break, which was taken at 66 for two.
Dale Richards was run out for 14 while Omar Phillips was leg before wicket by Shakib al Hasan, also for 14.
Following the lunch break, captain Floyd Reifer was leg before wicket to Mahmudullah for 19.
Travis Dowling is 19 not out and Dave Bernard is undefeated on two.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 345 in their second innings after resuming this morning on 321 for five.
Tamim Iqbal top scored for Bangladesh with 128. Junaid Siddique 78, Mushfiqur Rahim 37 and Shakib Al Hasan 30 supported him.
All-rounder Darren Sammy was the most successful bowler for West Indies with five for 70. Kemar Roach ended with three for 67, while Ryan Austin and Dave Bernard had a wicket apiece.
West Indies are being represented by a replacement squad after the original 13-man squad chose to boycott the series due to contract wrangles with the West Indies Cricket Board.
