Talks between the United States and Cuba on immigration issues are expected to resume today at the United Nations in New York.
Discussions on immigration issues with Cuba were suspended by the former American President, George Bush, in 2003.
But both countries have now indicated that they are willing to move to improve relations, which are currently conducted through third countries.
President Obama has called the past American policy towards Cuba a failure.
