Isa Phillips wins 400 metre in Switzerland
Jamaican Isa Phillips yesterday continued his preparation for the next month’s World Championships by winning the men’s 400 metre hurdles at the Lucerne Spitzen Leichtathletik meeting in Switzerland.
Phillips won in 48.66 seconds to beat American Michael Tinsley who clocked 48.69.
It was the second victory for Phillips inside three days following his 48.09 clocking in winning in Athens, Greece.
There was a second place finish for Jamaica at the meet. Steve Mullings clocked 10.16 to finish behind American Ivory Williams in the men’s 100 metres. Williams clocked 10.03 seconds. Winston Barnes of Jamaica finished sixth in 10.42.
In the women’s 100 metres, Jamaican Carrie Russell was third in 1.27 and her teammate Simone Facey ended fourth in 11.39. American Gloria Assumnu won the race in 11.22.
In the women’s 100 metre hurdles, Lacena Golding-Clarke of Jamaica was sixth in 13.19 to Australian winner Sally McLellan, who won in 12.73.
