Jamaican Usain Bolt to compete today
The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt will continue his preparation for next month\'s World Championships in Berlin by competing in the Areva Meeting outside Paris today.
The meet is scheduled to start at 1.05 p.m. Jamaica time with Bolt, the Beijing Olympic triple gold medallist, down to compete at 2.40 p.m.
The field will also include Bolt’s Jamaican teammate Yohan Blake, Daniel Bailey of Antigua, Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles, 2003 world champion Kim Collins of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Olympic runner-up Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago.
Nine other Jamaicans are booked to run at the meet.
Kerron Stewart, a double medallist at the Beijing Olympic, and Aleen Bailey will run in the women’s 100 metres at 2.20 p.m. Stewart is one of four athletes chasing the US$1 million Golden League jackpot.
Olympic gold medallist Melaine Walker and Nickiesha Wilson are down to contest the women’s 400 metre hurdles.
Other Jamaicans down to run are Ricardo Chambers in the men’s 400, Dwight Thomas in the men’s 110 hurdles, Novlene Williams-Mills in the women’s 400 and Dolloreen Ennis-London and Lacena Golding-Clarke in the women’s 100 metre hurdles.
