The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched a forum in Haiti focusing on the potential to transform Caribbean economies.

IDB president Luis Alberto Moreno said the forum would also seek to address strategies to enhance productivity and provide better employment opportunities in the region.

Participants are also expected to review ways to improve the integration of the financial systems.

The IDB said a stable and efficient financial system would boost private sector activity.

It said discussions would also look into ways to improve the quality of life in the region and analyse how to enhance social protection.

IDB Caribbean member countries are The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
