An infant girl delivered prematurely from her mother, who is infected with the H1N1 virus, died in Florida yesterday.

This happened at the Wellington Regional Medical Center in Palm Beach County.

Doctors at the facility placed the infant’s mother, Aubrey Opdyke, into a medically induced coma on June 3 to give the baby as much oxygen as possible.

Officials say they were forced to deliver the infant 14 weeks early after her mother suffered a collapsed lung last week.

The woman remains comatose and in critical condition at the facility.
