England face an anxious wait to see if premier batsman Kevin Pietersen will be fit for the third Ashes Cricket Test with Australia which begins on July 30 at Edgbaston.
The squad will be named at the weekend and Pietersen is a major concern after aggravating an Achilles during the victory in the second Test at Lord’s.
The 29 year old has been told not to play for Hampshire in Saturday’s FP Trophy final against Sussex at Lord’s.
There are concerns that Pietersen will not be able to last back-to-back Test matches.
The Edgbaston Test is scheduled to end on Monday, August 3 with the next match at Headingley beginning on Friday, August 7.
